COVID has not affected the solidary commitment of Total personnel in Pau

Kicked off locally in 2019, the Action! program  is a resounding success.

Through this initiative, the Total Foundation gives employees the time and resources to devote themselves to the development of the areas in which Total is located. Employees from the CSTJF and the PERL who want to take part, can therefore carry out solidarity actions during their working hours, for up to three days a year.

In Pau, our teams geared up to building strong and empathetic relationships in their local environment. They dedicate their time to Total’s local partner associations.

In the first half of 2020, 121 volunteers gave their time to take part in solidarity missions. Thanks to their personal involvement, 828 working hours were dedicated to 176 actions completed during missions chosen by the employees.

Adapting to the current situation to continue solidarity actions

With lockdown, and driven by the Total Foundation, our partners repositioned their missions to comply with the obligatory health measures, or to make it feasible for them to be done remotely via digital tools, widely used since the beginning of the COVID crisis (educational support, links with the elderly or isolated people, etc.).

Volunteer employees from Total in Pau continued to give their time for solidarity actions, in total safety for both themselves and the people benefiting from their actions.
In addition to the program Action!, in view of the international pandemic, the unprecedented socio-economic crisis the country is experiencing, and to help the most vulnerable people, the Total Foundation issued a call for partners in April to support initiatives to facilitate young peoples’ education and social integration.

Giving your time and energy for the local region

Being a main player in the local area means making commitments through a whole host of different actions with the aim of building strong and empathic relations with the local environment.

Among the local collaborative initiatives related to the solidarity commitment program Action! here are our favorite projects from the first half of 2020:

  • The Cravate Solidaire: 130 hours and 33 missions completed.
  • The Aquitaine Natural Spaces Conservatory: 103 hours and 12 missions completed.
  • AJIR: 69 hours and 2 missions completed.
  •  EpiScènes: 46 hours and 5 missions completed.
  • New solidarity initiatives for the unemployed (SNC): 40 hours and 3 missions completed.

Just like our other partners in the program, they proposed three types of missions on the platform:

  • Helping hand: missions lasting less than a day without any direct link to the employees’ professional competencies.
  • Competencies: missions of up to three days where employees use their professional competencies.
  • Sponsorship: recurrent missions to support young people in precarious social situations.
