Increasingly effective technologies to reduce the environmental footprint of our developments
Total must contribute to the global reduction of greenhouse gas emissions while meeting the increasing energy demand generated by economic and demographic growth.
The aim is to reconcile the two sustainable development goals of the UNO: access to energy for all and the fight against global warming. Total’s ambition is to provide cleaner, more affordable and more readily accessible energy to as many people as possible.

The CSTJF and PERL teams, particularly those of the Research & Development hub, are mobilized to meet present and future challenges. As you browse through the pages of our website, discover how they contribute to the Group’s ambition via innovative technical solutions. For example:
- Biomem, an innovative biological process to treat produced water
- The Pilot Rivers to measure the environmental footprint on biodiversity and the aquatic environment
- Restoring damaged coral ecosystems and using mollusks to monitor water quality on industrial sites (valvometry)
