TotalEnergies: already well-established in Pau

To affirm its transformation, Total has become TotalEnergies and adopted a new visual identity. In Pau and Lacq the teams are already contributing to the multi-energy company’s ambition.

“Energy is life. We all need it and it’s a source of progress. So today, to contribute to the sustainable development of the planet facing the climate challenge, we are moving forward together towards new energies. Energy is reinventing itself, and this energy journey is ours. Our ambition is to be a world-class player in the energy transition. That is why Total is transforming and becoming TotalEnergies,” declared Patrick Pouyanné, President and CEO of TotalEnergies, at the end of May 2021.

The new name and associated visual identity reflect the new direction that TotalEnergies has taken with great determination: a broad energy company committed to producing energy that is ever more affordable, clean, reliable and accessible to as many people as possible. The new logo was proudly displayed at the Jean Féger Scientific and Technical Center (CSTJF) in Pau.

The CSTJF and Southwest France at the forefront

“To quote P. Pouyanné, the new logo and its varied palette of colors represent the journey that we have now embarked upon, for a world with more energies and fewer emissions. And here in Pau and Lacq, our journey is already well under way” says Thierry Renard, Director of the Pau Site, which encompasses the CSTJF and the PERL.

This is an historic change of direction for everyone, and it also marks a watershed moment in our local history: “For decades, the Pau Site has been at the cutting edge of oil & gas exploration & production, and in this respect, it is a major TotalEnergies site. The technical skills of the teams working there and the technical resources they have will enable the Pau Site to contribute fully to the energy transition strategy implemented by TotalEnergies: we will give our all to meet the dual challenge of increasing energy demand and climate change. The technical and scientific expertise of the teams on site and their capacity to manage major projects will ensure that they are fully integrated into new projects. It’s a real opportunity for us and one we can be proud of, as it opens up new horizons. Certain achievements perfectly illustrate what our teams have to contribute to this ambitious strategy: pioneers in Europe on carbon capture and storage technology with the pilot installed in Lacq in 2010, technological bridges between offshore oil & gas and offshore wind energy, the computing power of PANGEA to perform simulations for the different branches... the possibilities are endless! Our teams, through their experience and capacity to integrate new expert knowledge, will be a driving force of TotalEnergies and will definitely contribute to its future successes.”

Note that Southwest France is a region that already hosts activities that illustrate the transformation of TotalEnergies: batteries produced by Saft, biomethane from the Fonroche Biogaz facilities and an increasing number of solar plants in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and beyond.
