Supporting sustainable development
TotalEnergies is stepping up its ambitions in terms of sustainable development and the energy transition towards carbon neutrality. Drawing on innovative processes and advanced technologies, the research teams at the CSTJF and PERL are playing a key role in meeting the Company's commitments to provide concrete, sustainable solutions to this dual challenge: more energy, less emissions.
CO₂ geological storage
The R&D team at TotalEnergies has been working for over twenty years on the development of CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) to reduce its CO₂ emissions and those of its clients. The objective for 2030? To be able to store over 10 Mt CO₂ per year.
Preserving water resources
Climate change has considerable impacts on global water resources. More and more geographical areas are now affected by periods of water scarcity. A challenge for TotalEnergies, committed to optimizing the management of freshwater resources on its sites, from the PERL.
Our marine protection programs
According to the IPBES (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) 66% of marine environments are thought to be altered by human activities. Several dozen species including coral reefs, sharks, rays, crustaceans and so on, are already threatened by extinction.
Our commitment to biodiversity
Fully aware of the environmental impact of its activities, TotalEnergies has incorporated the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into its environmental policy.
