The enhancement of local heritage

The preservation and transmission of architectural and cultural heritage are among the key areas of focus within the TotalEnergies Foundation’s ‘Dialogue between Cultures and Heritage’ programme. Since 2006, thanks to its partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine, more than 300 restoration projects have been supported across France: mills, castles, theatres and iconic structures of local history.

Through these projects, the Foundation helps to safeguard a heritage that defines the identity of local areas whilst enhancing their appeal. Particular attention is paid to inclusive projects that enable young people who are distant from the labour market to train in heritage-related trades and enter the workforce.

Discovering restored heritage in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Restored heritage also invites visitors to explore the regions in a new light. In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, several sites supported by the Heritage Foundation bear witness to the richness of local history and the expertise of those committed to their preservation.

This selection of places to discover offers a journey through Béarn and the Basque Country, introducing visitors to restored heritage that helps to keep the region’s memory, culture and appeal alive.
