Information Systems careers a strategic lever for TotalEnergies

A Telecommunications and Networks Engineer by training, Beatriz Guillen Francos embodies the diversity of career paths within TotalEnergies’ Information Systems. Telecommunications, applications, project management, team leadership her role spans multiple areas, all serving the Company’s businesses.

After working closely with Exploration & Production affiliates as a telecommunications engineer, Beatriz is now based at CSTJF in Pau, where she holds a key position as Squad Lead for Processes & Operations. She leads essential infrastructure services that underpin the applications used by all employees in support functions across the Company.

A cross-functional and strategic role where innovation, adaptability and team spirit are essential.

Convinced that digital is above all a human adventure, Beatriz is also actively involved in the “Elles bougent” association, helping young girls discover scientific and technical careers and inspiring vocations from an early age.

Who are you?
Hello, my name is Beatriz Guillen Francos, and I am a Telecommunications and Networks Engineer by training.

What does your role at TotalEnergies involve?
At TotalEnergies, we are fortunate to be able to take on different roles within the same field. I started my career as a Telecommunications Engineer, which gave me the opportunity to travel around the world. I then moved into the application domain, supporting the Drilling business as an IT Project Manager and Business Analyst. Today, I lead a team in charge of managing application infrastructures for Support Functions applications used by all our colleagues across the Company.

Why is your role strategic for the Company?
Information Systems play a key role in supporting all business activities across the Company, regardless of the domain whether Exploration, Research, or even Treasury. Our mission is also to deliver high-quality services and, above all, to help our businesses prepare for the future by leveraging digital technologies.

What is a common misconception about your job?
No, we don’t spend 10 hours a day sitting behind a computer doing things that no one understands!

What motivates you in your job?
In the short term, it’s when everything runs smoothly and goes unnoticed that means it works. In the long term, it’s about delivering real value to the business.

Would you rather explain your job to a 6-year-old or to a grandmother?
Without hesitation, to a 6-year-old. I believe it is essential to introduce scientific careers from an early age. That’s why I am involved in the “Elles bougent” association, which promotes technical and scientific careers to young girls. I may not be Marie Curie or Sophie Adenot, but if I manage to spark the interest of two or three of them, then that’s already a success.

Your favorite word in your job?
Innovation and adaptability. In reality, the digital world is constantly evolving.

And the one you never want to hear again?
“It crashed!”

If your job were a cake, what would it be?
A galette des rois, with its many layers of puff pastry. Just like in Information Systems, we build multiple layers of expertise that create a solid foundation to support the Company’s other activities.

What is your superpower at work?
Good mood and team spirit.
