• After the first replica rugby shirt made entirely of recycled materials for the French Top 14 rugby league, TotalEnergies is proud of this new step forward taken by the region’s flagship club.
• The sports world is now embracing environmental issues. The Section is the first club to obtain the ‘Fair play for planet’ label, which aims to give recognition to sports clubs and events that show true environmental commitment.

More than ever now, society is attentive to the environmental impact of all human activity. The sports world is now aware of the challenges and is rethinking its operating strategies, looking for ways to raise awareness among key players and supporters, and taking positive actions to fight climate change. The eco-responsible policy adopted by the Section Paloise Béarn Pyrénées rugby club and backed by TotalEnergies, is already well known and commended.

Recognition for the club and its sponsor

The club was one of the first to make the commitment back in 2018, led by one of its players. A CSR (acronym for Corporate Social Responsibility) Commission was created and catalyzed the deployment of a series of different actions introduced over the sports seasons: Ovaligne a special bus route for supporters, training in waste sorting for caterers, reuse of supporters’ flags, Ecolos en Herbe (budding ecologists) a sustainable development education program, an environmentally-friendly supporters’ shirt made from 13 recycled plastic bottles and all sorts of other solidarity, civic and social action.

The Section has now been rewarded for its commitment as it is the first club to obtain the Fair play for planet label. It is the first of three levels in FPFP certification, awarded by the organization founded by Julien Pierre.
 

In this step, the Section is fully in line with the referential put together with the ADEME (Ecological Transition Agency), that covers many subjects: transport, foodstuffs, purchase management, infrastructures, energy, field management, awareness-raising actions and governance. As for the club’s strong points, there is the Section Gourmande, with its 100% short supply circuit offers for the general public. Looking to the future, the club still has room for improvement to obtain the next two levels of FPFP certification by improving the energy efficiency of the club buildings or developing sustainable mobility solutions to take players and supporters to the stadium.
