TLS: Learning through empowerment
Since 2017, TotalEnergies Learning Solutions (TLS) has been orchestrating the Company’s training policy on four strategic sites: Pau, Paris, Dunkirk and Marseilles. With a team of 29 people on the Pau site, TLS trains staff from all over the world in technical and business professions related to the new challenges of decarbonization and renewable energies. At the core of this approach is a training-model focused on "growing by doing", which aims to make members of staff proactive in their own career development.

"Because our professions are constantly changing, we see training as a competitive asset and an essential factor for leveraging the acquisition of new skills by our staff, in particular those related to decarbonization and renewable energies."
Emmanuel Mugnier
Allowing staff to be proactive and drive their own career development is the ambition put forward by TotalEnergies through its participative training policy. With its TLS affiliate, the Company has made training a mainstay in its strategy, to support the development of long-standing professions while guiding the teams toward the new challenges of decarbonization and renewable energies.
To support this transition, TotalEnergies gives each member of staff three days’ training per year that can be customized according to individual aspirations and requirements. Combining theory and practical sessions, these mix and match training courses are available in different formats (classroom-based, distance learning modules or virtual classrooms) and contribute to strengthening a multi-energies culture within the Company.
TotalEnergies Pau welcomes staff from all over the world
On the Pau site, hundreds of members of staff from all over the world receive training in a wide variety of subjects including piping, geosciences, drilling operations, and more operational aspects such as commissioning. To design and implement such highly technical training courses, the TLS team in Pau calls on the OneTech branch, which holds true scientific and technical expertise, combined with knowledge of the field across the entire energy spectrum. External partnerships have also been forged, in particular with the French Petroleum Institute (IFP) to offer operational staff training programs that cover the entire range of competencies required for the operation, safety and maintenance of industrial sites, i.e. refineries, offshore facilities, petrochemical plants, etc.
2,000 training courses available
With 2,000 courses available in the catalogue, including 100 dedicated to historical and technical professions, TotalEnergies emphasizes the development of technical skills and the understanding of environmental and societal challenges.
The "Visa for TotalEnergies" program trained 30,000 staff members in climate change challenges, with modules dedicated to the climate, biodiversity and the sustainable energy mix. Training courses on electric mobility have also been developed in the Company to support the teams in their challenges to electrify vehicle fleets.
By means of a continuous learning model and tailored training courses, TotalEnergies supports its staff in their career development. In keeping with these objectives, the TLS teams in Pau develop customized training courses that enable staff to deepen their knowledge of strategic sectors and encourage cross-functional careers, to meet the new requirements of the energy markets.
