The energy industry is constantly developing and changing, and the technological and environmental challenges are increasingly complex. For TotalEnergies, giving young people desire to work in the sector, contributes to its own development, particularly in the context of its transformation, and to the development of the entire industrial sector.
One of the flagship initiatives of Territoire d’Industrie Lacq-Pau-Tarbes is Strategic Regional Human Resource Planning (GPECT), kicked off in February 2021¹. It aims to plan ahead for the skills local companies are likely to need, and to secure professional careers for staff. It federates over 120 public and private players, including companies, training agencies and professional associations. Structuring actions, like the creation of sector-based work groups and the creation of a dedicated website to promote local industry, have been implemented to meet recruitment needs and boost regional appeal.
As part of the proactive approach to encourage local employment, the GPECT wants to promote jobs, know-how and skills, by working with its local partners. On the strength of a rich, common industrial and economic history with the Territoire d’industrie Lacq-Pau-Tarbes, the TotalEnergies site in Pau was naturally called on to take part in the Pyrénées Indus’Compétences communication campaign directed at young people.
Many topical challenges are to be tackled with the help of industry, often at the cutting edge of innovation, developing new technologies to resolve complex issues such as reducing carbon emissions or improving energy efficiency.
