Citizenship engagement in Pau: Meeting Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier

On February 20, 2025, the teams at the TotalEnergies Site in Pau welcomed Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier, General Delegate of TotalEnergies Foundation and Company Senior Vice President Citizenship Engagement. The purpose of the "The Foundation & You" meeting, held in conference format, was to enable staff to get the full measure of the Company’s citizenship engagement initiative and the general interest initiatives it supports.

The General Delegate of TotalEnergies Foundation freed up time to meet two local associations under sponsorship agreements, when he came to the Béarn region.

The day began with a visit to the Pau-based association Pistes Solidaires, where a warm welcome was given to Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier. Pistes Solidaires works in particular to support young people’s international mobility and social inclusion. The meeting was an opportunity for Magali Lansalot and Mathieu Decq, surrounded by their highly cosmopolitan team, to highlight the association’s different initiatives.

After a look back at Take off, supported by the Foundation, the Management team at Pistes solidaires presented the Digital Green app, an innovative digital tool aimed at enhancing environmental education. Discussions ended with the European campaign, Jericho, to raise awareness among the general public and young people about the phenomenon of sexual exploitation of children, a little-known subject that is affecting an increasing number of young people aged 15 to 17+ (there are 7,000 and 20,000 victims in France). "The diversity of the actions taken by Pistes solidaires and the professionalism of its teams are particularly impressive. Beyond our financial support, I am happy to see that our colleagues are investing their time and effort in the volunteer missions proposed to them by this association" stated Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier.

After a presentation to inform staff at the CSTJF and the PERL (broadcast live from Pau), Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier went to the Lons rugby club stadium, home to Rebonds! This association, also supported by TotalEnergies Foundation, uses sport - and more specifically rugby - as a vector for social and professional inclusion.
The visit was an opportunity to find out more about the actions taken to support young people on their path through life. After the meeting with Boris Choukroun, Grâce Lovatt and Marie Poulesteix, Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier said: "TotalEnergies is particularly attached to the values of rugby. Rebonds! perfectly represents our vision of a sport to serve social inclusion and cohesion, in particular by incorporating all the social and family aspects of its beneficiaries."

Exemplary citizenship engagement

The highlights of the day were constructive discussions and times for sharing ideas - a perfect illustration of TotalEnergies’ commitment. "I was able to see that 'creating partnerships', which is very important to us, is a main driving factor for associations in the Pau region. We keep this alive through local relations, in the field and the incorporation into our partners’ community” explained the General Delegate of the Foundation.

Though the staff at the CSTJF and the PERL give a significant amount of their time to volunteer for projects in many local associations, Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier encouraged them to be even more involved in these solidarity initiatives.

Many of them attended the conference opened by Jérôme Poncet, Head of the TotalEnergies Site in Pau, who reminded everyone how proud the Company is to actively contribute to the development of meaningful projects with true values to help the most vulnerable populations.
