Master 1 Mathematics students from the UPPA discover career prospects

On December 19, 2024, the CSTJF, TotalEnergies’ Center of Research and Expertise in Pau, welcomed M1 students studying Math and applications, on the Stochastic tools and Computational Methods for Decision (MSID) course at the University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour. It was an opportunity for them to discover the site, its specificities and the different career opportunities they could apply for on completion of their degree. The event was led by Maïder Estécahandy, reliability engineer at TotalEnergies and a former UPPA student.

Pangea and other applications for mathematical methods…

During this half-day introduction to the business world, the students were able to see the Pangea 4 / Pangea Cloud supercomputer and take part in various interactive workshops.

During the immersion, the GRIF (GRaphical Interface for reliability Forecasting) project was given particular attention. It is a software suite that has been developed for the Company for 40 years now, to evaluate the efficiency of oil & gas facilities or other energies developed as part of TotalEnergies’ transition.

In terms of Human Resources, the students were impressed by an artificial intelligence tool developed by TotalEnergies that projected them in different Company jobs (using “face swap” technology).

Watch the video to find out about the event that enabled students to ask themselves more pertinent questions about the future:

Our commitment to youth is born of the firm belief that without young people, there can be no sustainable development. As a responsible employer and through our public interest actions, we work to give young people the means to take their future into their own hands. Key to ensuring that the regions thrive, and with the teams from the Pau Site, we foster partnerships that help prepare young people for the energy challenges of tomorrow.
